Practical Approaches Consultants believe in providing customized supports to meet individual needs.  We offer a variety of services that are intended to support individuals, families, organizations, and schools.

1. Training

Training is customized to meet your needs.  We provide practical, research and experience-based information with proven strategies for successful application.  Training typically targets educators, case managers, direct support professionals, and families.  Training topics include, but are not limited to:

• Autism Spectrum Disorders
• Active Treatment:  Approaches for Individualizing and Offering Meaningful Program Activities
  
• The Essentials of an Effective Autism Day Program

2. Program Development and Support

We specialize in developing individualized programs for developmental training sites, schools/classrooms, residential facilities, and individual residences.

Based upon individual needs, supports may include curriculum development, communication training, environmental modifications, visual systems, structure/ scheduling, and training regarding implementation. 

3.Management Consultation

We work collaboratively with organizational leadership to establish the following:

• Program policies and procedures
  
• Protocols and staff expectations for program implementation
  
• Program outreach and expansion
• Criteria for staffing programs
• Establish teams/support systems for specialized services

4. Behavioral Assessment and Intervention

Many individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities often struggle with behavioral issues. The focus of our assessment is to determine the function of the behavior, allowing us to move past reactive measures and into proactive interventions.  We offer support with the following:

• Behavior Intervention Plans
• Proactive interventions
• Effective communication techniques
• Positive behavioral intervention
• Individualized reward/incentive programs
  
• Crisis planning
